Where can I apply for the JLPT?

You can either apply via on-line or by going to one of the following enrolment centres.

How to apply for the JLPT?

1. On-line enrolment: We accept on-line enrolment. After you fill in the enrolment form, confirm the information and submit it successfully, you will be able to receive an email confirming the acceptance of your application. You will be notified of your enrolment number in the email. Please follow the instructions and send a cheque to our office to pay for the test fee. We will notify you by email upon receipt of your cheque.

2. Enrolment centres: Please submit the enrolment form together with a cheque to one of our enrolment centres. A temporary receipt will be issued. An official receipt together with the test voucher will be sent to you by post by 15 November.

Can I apply two different levels of the test?

ˇ@

Yes. Level 1 to level 3 will be held in the morning and level 4 will be held in the afternoon. For those who want to apply two different levels of the test are requested to submit two separate enrolment forms and two separate cheques. Please be reminded that you cannot sit for two different levels of the test which are held at the same time. For on-line application, only level 4 can be applied together with other level.

Where are the test sites?

We have test centers in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Shatin. The "preference test center district" selected by candidates will be the main reference for us to assign the test center. Basically, the assignment of the test center is on first-come-first-serve basis. However, due to the limitations of the test centers, we have full right to assign the other districts for candidates to seat the test.

Can non-Hong Kong citizens apply for the test held at Hong Kong?

Yes, if you have a Hong Kong correspondence address. If you do not live in Hong Kong, you can apply via on-line and authorize someone in Hong Kong to submit your cheque to our office. Or you can authorize someone in Hong Kong to submit the enrolment form and cheque to one of our enrolment centres.

 I want to take the test in Japan, can I enroll here?

I have enrolled in other country, can I take the test in Hong Kong?

ˇ@

No. Test organizer is different according to each country. If you want to take the test in Hong Kong or Macau, you have to enroll in Hong Kong.

I missed the deadline for enrolment. What should I do?

No applications are accepted after the closing date for whatever reason.

Do I have to fill in my identity number?

ˇ@

Yes, you must. Non-Hong Kong citizens may fill in the passport number or entry permit number. On the test day, you have to show us the identity document that you wrote on the enrolment form for identification.

How to pay for the test fee?

ˇ@

We only accept cheque or cashier order. For on-line enrolment, you will be notified of the payment details by email. Please send your cheque to our office within the specified period. For walk-in enrolment, please submit your enrolment form together with a cheque payable to ˇ§Society of Japanese Language Education, Hong Kongˇ¨.

When can I receive the test voucher?

We will send out the test voucher at the beginning of November. If you have not received the test voucher by 15 November, please contact us. (Tel:2866-9991)

What should I do if I find error in the information I submitted?

ˇ@

Starting from 2006, candidates can check and amend their personal information via our web-site within a specific period. Otherwise, you can notify us about the amendment either by letter or email. Please note that you must update your correspondence address if there is any change.

I enrolled via on-line. How can I know whether my cheque has been delivered to your office or not?

ˇ@

We will notify you by email upon receipt of your cheque. Or you can check your registration status via our web-site. If there is any problem with the cheque, we will contact you. Therefore please write down your enrolment number, name and telephone number on the back of the cheque. For safety reason, you may consider registered mail.

Can I receive the test voucher earlier?

 I do not live in Hong Kong. How can I receive the test voucher?

We will send the test voucher to the correspondence address you wrote on the enrolment form.

After registration, it happened that I cannot take the test due to some circumstances. Can I have the test fee refunded?

No. Once registered, the test fee will not be refunded.

I lost the receipt. Can it be re-issued?

 No. Receipt can only be issued once.
